Flim flamed on the price of a leased vehicle. Numbers buried in contract

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

The sad part of this is that i thought i picked the Honest dealership and found out i picked the most dishonest.

After agreeing on a price of a new leftover 2014 vehicle (October 31)

I was flim flamed and the price was brought up to the MSRP which is unheard of for a car almost a year old. I am not counting the lease fee's of 1000 and 350 lease termination that are built in. I am a tax consultant and work with number. I could not tell because how the number were derived because they are so tricky in how they are disclosed. Even after speaking to a sales manager (unhelpful gave me some BS theories about leasing and risks) than i got the first statement and called again the sales manager told me that interest was included in the payoff number that is def incorrect later I called Toyota finance 1st call was a waste person passed the buck back to the dealer. 2nd call I got all the numbers down. and it is clear now they ripped me off maybe for almost 2,000. I will give the owner a chance to make good if i can reach him.

I called another dealer and he seemed to honestly try to answer my questions, but did not have the contract to review, he seemed very honest.

They don't stand by bad quality and will rip off your trade in.

Sun Toyota is not an honest dealership. I traded my 2003 Corolla for a 2013 certified used Corolla.

First they told me my 2003 wasn't worth anything and I only got 2500 for the trade in. They said they would sell it at auction. I had it repainted and it had new tires. There was nothing wrong with it.

Then I found my cars VIN online at Sun's used lot for 7000.00. I was lied to about the trade-in value. Second, the 2013 has very loose, very dangerous steering. This is a problem I have found while doing research, with the 2009-**** model.

I do not feel safe in this car. At high speeds, the car steering is tight then loose and is intermittent. The steering wheel gets jerked when going over bumps or pot holes. Even changing lanes across different pavement grades jerks the steering wheel.

Today, I was told this car is "drive able". And that this is the new electronic power steering. And that it is "performing as designed". That I needed peace of mind like I'm some kind of stupid woman.

No. A car is not supposed to jerk the steering wheel when you are driving it, or hard to keep in your lane. I test drove the 2014 S model at Sun and Clearwater as well at the LE model at Clearwater and all of the 2014s steering is wildly different from the 2013. I also drove a Honda at Ocean with EPS and it is wildly different.

So instead of trying to rectify the situation, I'm told I have to pay thousands of dollars more for the 2014. So today, I go to toyotaowners.com and there is the service history for the previous owner in 2013 who claimed that the steering wheel was loose and wobbly at high speeds. It said the technician test drove it and that it was operating as designed. So the previous owner had an issue with the steering wheel just as I did, but I was made to feel like it's just a matter of getting used to it, I was blown off and ushered out the door with no explanation, no paperwork, nothing.

I had my 2003 for 11 years and told everyone and every female to go with Toyota because it will not break down Now, because of the way I was treated and the quality of this car I will not. I'm not some idiot.

I work in tech support and was in the military for christ sake. If the customer tells you that the car feels unsafe, the worst thing to do is patronize them.

Sun Toyota - Car Purchase Review from Bellevue, Washington

AWFUL EXPERIENCE!!! My parents needed a new car and go to this joker.

The dealership tries to sell them a 2010 with 50K miles for $10K more then it is worth. Then when asking how much a new Toyota would be, they say $20K. When I asked why the site said $16, they respond those are base models which is what we were trying to get anyway! The final offer was $22K for a 50,000 2010 and didn't even have the right amount of oil in it!

Went 16 miles down the road to Clearwater Toyota, got a BRAND NEW car, paid $4K less, put down $1K less, have a monthly payment of $100 less, and that comes with GAP insurance and the extended warranty!

Sun Toyota are rip off artist, I wouldn't finance a tic-tac from these idiots! Unless you enjoy losing twice the value just pulling off the lot, then their finance charges as well!

Bait and Switch

Buyers beware!! This place is a rip-off! We found a used car we like online at the Sun Toyota website under "Pre-Owned." We entered our information to be contacted. The next morning we got an e-mail from Phil Stinson, stating that someone would be in contact with us soon. We got a call a few minutes later and were set up with a 1:00 pm VIP appointment with a "VIP Manager." (Their words, not mine, meaning not just a regular salesperson)

We arrived time. We were greeted by a salesperson and told him we had an appointment with the VIP Manager. He said, "Oh, that's just me. They give that to me. I'm the VIP." We were like, "Okay." He did not look like a VIP Manager. We told him about the car we wanted. He could not find the car we wanted and had us wait in the hot sun. He eventually grabbed a golf cart and took us around back to the repair bays. He had located the car. It was in a repair bay and had a cracked windshield and a smashed front end. The salesperson said, "Well, it looks a little rough." It was not a car that could even have been legally registered to drive in Florida, due to the damage. We complained about the condition of the car and how it was not even possible to register it. We told him we wanted to speak to the VIP Manager. He drove us up to the office and said to wait outside and have a seat on the bench. It was 86 degrees and felt like the low 90s. He left us out in the heat as he scrambled to find someone who would talk to us.

After ten minutes, a "manager" (not a VIP Manager) came out to tell us that they had another car for us "with less mileage, in around the same price-range." We asked where the car was. He stated that "they were trying to find it." We waited another ten minutes and still nothing. That is classic bait and switch!! We were furious and said we would never buy a car from them. First of all, they buy junked cars and fix them up!! Don't trust them when they say the car has NOT been in an accident previously. We saw the damage firsthand!! Don't trust CARFAX. They have very limited knowledge of a car's history. I bet the CARFAX on the car we saw would state that it was "clean."

Do NOT go to Sun Toyota. They are a rip-off and bait-and-switch dealer!!

I too got screwed by Sun Toyota. The exact same thing happened to me.

I came to look at a used Scion Xb that was listed online. I got the same treatment, I was told the car that I had seen was not ready. They then told me that they would have a VIP manager come and talk with me, that they were making some big deals. He then told me that he would sell me a new Scion im for the same price as the used Xb.

Sounded good, so I agreed. I had a trade in of a one year old Nissan Rogue Select. I told them I wouldn't accept less than $1600 for my trade in. They agreed to it.

However when it came to sign all the papers, they said they could not finance less than $7200. So they did some juggling with the loan. They wrote that my trade in was only worth $11900, promising me they would send me a check for the balance of $4100. In the process the finance amount came to $11,362 adding on a finance charge of $2130.

It took about six phone calls and two visits to get them to finally pay me the $4100 I had been promised. They also added on two extended service contracts, which I had cancelled. It has taken eight weeks to get that taken off.

With a $16000 trade in I am still stuck with almost $8000 left to pay off. All for a $18000 automobile!

Bad warranty

I"m sorry to be complaining. its just been a stressful day. I bought a used 2002 Camry from Sun on the 3rd of January. The salesman was very nice and did a great job. Your finance team no so much. First off i wanted to trade my 1997 mustang GT convertible in and was told that because they are not gonna bother to sell it outright they would not give me full trade value. They told me it would go right to auction so there was nothing they could do. Well there goes 1000 bucks right off the bat. But the car was still a good deal so i had to go with it. I sight the paperwork for the Camry and was on my way. Got my warranty papers and everything. however i needed to come back because as it turned out the APR the gave me could not be accepted. when i called the salesman told be that they could do better so i was very happy. so back i came and i was given all different paperwork including a new APR which was much higher then before. This was not a better deal. as it turned out the warranty i paid for was also invalid due to a paper work error. It was called auto extra and it was a platinum plan. It was supposed to be the best warranty i could get for the car. well now i was given new warranty paper work. i signed all the papers and i was out the door. The very nice sales man asked me how much better they did and i told him that it was more than the first time. He looked stunned and said he was sorry. oh well not his fault.

Now we get to today. My ac has stopped blowing cold air and the car runs very rough. i took the car to stadium Toyota as they are right down the street. i gave them my paperwork for my warranty and was glad i bought the extra coverage. Come to find out the plan that i have is just for the drive train and a few other things. no AC. so i called Sun Toyota and got transferred around a bunch and given to voice mail a few times. I did finally get a lady that told me that the paperwork i had was for the incorrect coverage plan and it does not exist any more. i had a new plan and AC was covered because she listed it off and so to confirm i got the new info and policy number and said no big deal as long as my warranty covers ac. she said sorry for the mix up and went back into stadium Toyota with the new info. Unfortunately, this new policy also didn't cover AC. Huh? i was just told it was. The company the policy was through said nope. so i called back to Sun and got voice mail 2 times. At this time the man that was helping me told me to call the general manager. so i did. As soon as i did, Chad from finance picked up the phone and was happy to tell me that when i purchased the warranty i did not get AC coverage. I told Chad that in fact he was the guy that filled out my contract and sold the warranty to me. I asked why he didn't think to include the ac coverage. he said he must have and that i declined but it was only 138 more dollars. i asked him if he thought that made any sense at all that for less than a car payment i would have turned down AC protection in florida. he said he was sorry. That's where i am now. I have a contract for platinum coverage signed by chad sitting in front of me. I guessing it was a mistake on his part to not remove that contract and put in the new and improved contract. The man at stadium Toyota told me that i should try to get in contact with you because people will get their act together when the word comes from you. I'm guessing that's why when i last called and asked for you they jumped on the call so you would not get it.

Thank you for your time.

John.

Unethical sales practices

I helped my son purchase an 05 Celica and after bringing it to our own mechanic he found the air filter was filthy, cabin filter was black, the water pump was leaking, the serpentine belt was cracked, and some other small needed repairs. The car was misrepresented as a certified used vehicle with a sticker in the front windshield because when I called Sun Toyota in NPR they said it wasn't and refused to make any repairs.

That was after I called twice and they never returned my phone calls.

Very poor sales practices and worse customer service. They only want to make the sale and don't care about their customers.

Old people mislead by salesman

We think we test drove a LE and when we got back to the lot, the salesman said to park it next to the car we drove up in - we got out and went in the dealership - after all the misleading and stuff, there was a mix up about what we agreed on- and a lot of other misleading - we left with a L and it has no remote entry. We asked for the book about the car we had driven, the salesman said "We do not have any" . We feel this was all part of a deliberate scheme to switch cars from LE to L- another salesman came by and asked him if it was an L or LE - he replied LE!

But the car we got was a stripped down L,base.

Tell your friends who test drive a white car to be sure and get the vin number and make sure it is the same car they pay for Also, do not let your elderly friends go up there alone- I think they bragg a lot about swindling older customers, sales and services. Anyone know where to get consumer help?

Sun Toyota, New Port Richey, Fl., BEWARE!

I went in for 6 month oil change and tire rotation at Sun Toyota for my Camry that I purchased there just 6 months ago. I am not pleased with the service I received, and I actually think something fishy is going on there.

The very next day after my service appointment, I threw off two wheel covers. My husband went online and looked, and the remaining two covers on my car weren't even Toyota brand. They were cheap, plastic Discount Store tire covers, loose and ill-fitting.

When I went in to complain to the service manager, he didn't even raise an eyebrow. He called a mechanic in, and they just "happened" to have 4 matching, greasy, dirty Toyota covers "in the back". Someone took my new wheel covers and put a cheap brand on my car, certainly while it was being serviced. Now I also wonder about the tires. I have some "Potenza" brand tires on there now, I don't remember those being on there before. And I wonder what else may have been appropriated or switched out. No explanation from anybody there, no apology, just a quick change of wheel covers to shut me up and get me out of there.

I won't be going back there. This wasn't an "accident", someone deliberately switched them out, I'm sure of it. What has me mad is that they could have a racket going on there, and most people wouldn't even notice the switch for a long time, and by then, "anybody" could have taken them. You go to the dealer and pay more because you think you're going to get honest service. Lesson learned. I suggest you copy down or even photograph the brand of tire covers and tires before your service, and compare when it's finished.

Hi, I wrote the very first complaint on this list, about my wheel covers being switched out with ill-fitting cheap ones. Well, six months later Sun sends me a card offering $20 off any service, if I come back in.

Well, we all know what Sun Toyota can do with their $20 ........... maybe they should use it to pay their employees better so they quit stealing from the customers!

My 2004 dodge neon was in there body shop, I get the car back and there are lose blots on the radiator support and the steering wheel makes noises that they never investagted, They say they took it apart and there is a bad berring due to age, but Dodge said the have never had a berring go bad in there experience since 2001... I called 5 different dodge dealerships to see for sure..

Just had a RAV 4 serviced at the body shop of Sun Toyota... finding out they further damaged the vehicle - parts of the bumper they didn't paint from the accident were now ruined by them putting tape or something on the paint of the bumper that was not to be painted.

They also damaged the rain guards on the windows as they are now broken in half! Daughter picked up vehicle, then on her way to college when she noticed the rain guard. Grrrr. This car is a 2000 but was in perfect shape...

just happen to have taken a bunch of pictures of it as I was going to sell it in August - lucky me. Oh, the vehicle was hit from the rear while fully stopped, we saw the frame? was bent underneath, told the insurance company about it (GEICO-sux) adjuster said Toyota will be putting it on the lift and check it all out - just picked it up, they didn't even LOOK! But agreed it was bent!

They didn't look UNDERNEATH a vehicle struck from behind?? Nor did they check the engine light tt came on after the accident... UNBELIEVABLE. This was not a $200 accident, so far the damages on our Rav is $3200...

plus more to follow apparently. Toyota claims Geico didn't discuss the engine light or the frame with them.

Who is the expert??? Obviously not Toyota.

Guest

I've been going to sun Toyota for service since I purchased my car. I lived in spring hill and that's the closest Toyota service I could go to.

I was not very happy with their last two services with me for my mileage check up. I found out they've lost the aircaps on my tires, how Am I sure? all my aircaps were black in color , they tried to replace it with a green color and 2 of them were missing , plus they always forgot to place a reminder sticker as to when I'm coming back. And my GPS?

gone! I hid it under the passenger seat before the service , after 4 days Im about to use it it's gone!! I called customer service, they told me " there was no GPs in their lost and found section". Of course not, one of their employee stole it.

They should check their employees background and plus how they deliver service .

I am not going back there anymore!!!! Who knows what nasty things they could be doing on our cars?!!!!

My managing partner John Marazzi asked if you could contact me with regards to your experience to see how we can move forward and have you as part of the Sun Toyota family. My name is Lori-Ann Lynde and I am the Customer Relations Manager for the dealership. You can either email me at llynde@suntoyota.com or call me directly at 727-835-4358. I am looking to hearing from you and again my apologies. Thank you.

Sun Toyota adds insult to injury

Not only has Sun Toyota of New Port Richey lied to me about the Camry I bought from them regarding financing, yesterday I received an email from General Manager Joe Reth telling me I am 1 of 39 people this email was sent to stating "He can, and will" finance my current auto balance to 0% even if I have bad credit, stating this is not a "gimmick, this is real". I called sales Manager Mark Supanek regarding this email, Mark said this is sent to everybody, the bank has to approve you or no deal..I would call this false advertising. Stay away from Sun Toyota!

Sun Toyota Reply:
After reading your review I see that you didn’t have a “Truly Exceptional Experience” with the dealership. I did want you to know that Sun Toyota has new owners and is under new management which is the Morgan Auto Group. At this time our new management team would love to earn your business back. If you can please contact me Lori-Ann Lynde, Customer Relations Manager at llynde@suntoyota.com or 727-835-4358 so we can discuss your concerns that would be great. Thank you. Looking forward to hearing back from you.
